LA Roundup: New Matchups for the Dodgers to Look Forward to, USC Lands Another 4-Star Recruit, LA Athletes Unite for a Cause, and More!
As we continue to navigate a difficult 2020, we look towards those we admire to give us hope. We have been lucky here in Los Angeles to have athletes and teams that will speak up for what they believe, and they have provided an outline for Angelenos to follow. Athletes from all major sports have united behind the divide that is currently running through this country in an effort to bring light to the situation while also mending fences. We need more people in a position of influence to do the same going forward.
One positive that has come out of the past few days is that the COVID testing site at Dodgers Stadium is once again up and running. Anyone who would like to get tested can make an appointment for free, and a Reddit user even outlined the process for those that would like to learn more. Let’s be safe out there!
The Dodgers were predicted to be one of the top teams in baseball this season, and they may still get their chance. If the proposed combination of leagues goes through, there will be plenty of new matchups for fans to be entertained by. Whether it be the cross-town Angels, the pesky Athletics, or the hated Asterisks (sorry I meant Astros), this season would provide games that fans rarely get to see. Let’s hope we can get a confirmation soon on the possibility of a season!
In basketball news, the Lakers are still focused on finishing out their incredible run this season. That doesn’t mean that we can’t look forward to what the team may look like next year, however. With a couple of young studs on their G-league affiliate, there are plenty of potential plugins should they need the depth next year. Whether it be last year’s draft pick, Talen Horton-Tucker, or another young player on the list, LA has a bright future ahead.
We end the night with another successful recruitment by the Trojans. USC‘s highly-touted incoming class of 2021 was already stacked, and they just added another top tier player in Miller Moss. As the nation’s 5th ranked quarterback, he was being chased by the likes of Alabama and LSU, making him a gigantic steal for Southern California. USC continues to climb the national rankings and shows no signs of stopping.

Friendly reminder that a 35 year old LeBron James in his 17th season is averaging:
25.7 PPG / 10.6 APG / 7.9 RPG / 1.2 SPG / 50 FG% / 35 3P%
While also leading the Lakers to the 1 seed in the West, leading the league in assists, and being a top 2 MVP candidate.
