Baseball is back!! Well, sort of. Maybe. Okay, it’s nowhere near finalized so we won’t even go there yet. But we do have updates on the rest of the sports world here in Los Angeles!
The Bruins received yet another 4-star commitment, this time from Offensive lineman Thomas Cole. Cole is the top lineman in the state, and his commitment helps UCLA bolster a steadily improving group for 2021. The Bruins now hold the 4th best class in the PAC-12 and are 44th overall.
It’s been a sad week on the other side of town, as former USC Trojan and San Diego Charger Max Tuerk passed away earlier this week during a hike with his family. No cause of death was given, but our hearts go out to his family and friends in this difficult time. Max was most known for his first-team All PAC-12 season in 2014 as a junior, where he truly put himself on the map. He will be dearly missed by his Trojan family.
With everything going on, we don’t blame you if you forgot about the ESPY Awards, but they still happened! Many teams and individuals were recognized last night, including your boys in blue. The Dodgers took home the Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year Award for the work that they do alongside the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. The LADF has been a positive force in the LA communities, building baseball fields for kids to have a safe place to play and provided countless other resources as well. Congratulations to the best team in baseball for all that they do!
The NBA seems to be the first major sports league that will make its return, and teams are in full preparation for training camps to begin next month. The Lakers are in a good position with LeBron and AD but will still need the help of their supporting cast. With that in mind, we took a look at a few potential role players that we believe should see the most minutes off the bench during their playoff push. With so much uncertainty surrounding the Orlando plan and the state of basketball, consistency will be the key for the Lakers to win their 17th title in franchise history.
In other Lakers news, assistant coach Jason Kidd will reportedly be interviewing with the New York Knicks in the coming weeks. Kidd was always seen as a target to be the Lakers head coach, and he’ll now get the chance to potentially take that position in New York.

So MLB announces it plans to implement a season, requesting players be ready for preseason training by July 1 … as long as, you know, they can agree on health protocols. Which should be a breeze, right?
