LA Roundup: Dodgers Add More Talent On Day 2 of MLB Draft, Lakers Eying Reinforcements with Extra Roster Spots, Remembering the Kings’ Title in 2012, and More!

The Dodgers were busy on day 2 of the draft, making 5 selections and bolstering an already deep farm system. While they have lost some of that minor league talent with big trades recently, the team isn’t too worried. They have a strong history of drafting well, and the hope is that these newest picks will make up for what was lost.

June 11 is a special day for LA, as it marks the day that the LA Kings broke through with their first title back in 2012. They broke through once more in 2014 but haven’t had the same luck since. Looking back on that King’s team helps to soften the fact that their season is officially over. It may have been 8 years ago, but the impact that the title had on hockey here in LA is still felt and seen.

As we get closer to the NBA return in Orlando, the league is looking to provide support for teams as they get back into shape. It is expected to be officially announced soon, but the consensus is that teams will be allowed to take 17 players total. Since the Lakers currently have 15, who do they add to the roster? There are plenty of impact players on the South Bay Lakers, such as Davontae Cacok and Kostas Antetokounmpo, but fans are hoping for another name to make the cut. After being released earlier in the season, a reunion with Demarcus Cousins may be on the horizon.

The MLS is also planning for its return, and we finally know what groups our LA teams will be playing in. Surprise surprise… the LA Galaxy and LAFC will both be in Group F once the restart tournament in Orlando begins. This should provide a fun viewing experience for our city, as the two teams will be eager to show why they deserve to be called LA’s best.
