LA Roundup: Previewing Some Dodgers Draft Possibilities, How the NBA Stole MLB’s Shine, USC Keeps Adding Talent, and More!

Amid the constant chaos coming from MLB camps, the NBA has capitalized and stolen the spotlight. Commissioner Adam Silver has made Commissioner Rob Manfred look lost, and basketball has taken over what should be baseball’s biggest months. There are many parties at fault here but only one reality: Baseball has slipped and has no clear path to regain its former glory. Money conflicts have been prioritized over those that provide the money in the first place. Owners have made it their mission to discredit players. But the real loser is the game itself. One can only hope that it isn’t too late for what’s supposed to be America’s Passtime.

In the meantime, USC has enjoyed quite a successful week. After receiving their third commitment in a 5-day span, the Trojans sit comfortably with the nation’s 4th best class for 2021. Lake McRee is supposed to be the best tight end out of the state of Texas, and if his recovery from ACL surgery is as good as his highlight reels, USC got a real impact player. The future is bright once again for Southern California.

Sports across the nation have paid tribute to the late George Floyd as the country mourns his death, and the Dodgers did their part in paying respects. On June 3rd, the legendary stadium turned on its lights for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, commemorating the final moments of Floyd’s life. As the city continues to protest and fight for justice and peace, Dodgers Stadium became a beacon of light and a signal of hope.

We are only 4 days away from the MLB Draft, and the Dodgers will have some work to do. With only 5 rounds and 6 picks, their scouting department has been hard at work to narrow down some names. Should LA go with another pitcher? Is position depth a bigger need? Whichever way the Dodgers lean, fans can rest assured the 2020 draft class will be full of impact players.
