LA Roundup: The Lakers’ Road to a Title, Jalen Ramsey Confident in an Extension, Staples a Possibility for NHL Playoffs, and More!

As the return of basketball draws closer, we can finally begin to take a look at potential matchups and series that may take place. Based on the two proposals that have been thrown around, the Lakers could have two very different looking paths through the postseason. With the chemistry and talent that this team has, however, they should be just fine until a clash with either the Clippers of Bucks. These are the only two teams who should really make it a series, and that will be the ultimate test for the Lakers to pass.

After less than 3 years, LAFC is looking for a new naming rights partner for their stadium. The team is currently partnered with Banc of California, but they have restructured their agreement to allow the team to find a new partner. Whoever comes to terms with the team will have their name on one of the best venues in the sport.

USC has not been shy about reaching out to top tier talent as they look to rebuild their program for future seasons. And while their 2021 class is already strong, they are still missing a cornerback (or three). With that in mind, the team has their eyes on 4-Star corner, Damarius McGhee. McGhee will have his share of offers, but the Trojans have really placed an emphasis on their recruitment game. Only time will tell if they can net a talent like McGhee.

The Rams traded the farm when they acquired Jalen Ramsey last season and will soon have to pay even more to keep him. As he enters a contract season, Ramsey could very well hold out until the team makes him an offer of his liking. The star corner has chosen not to go that route, however, instead choosing to prepare for the (hopefully) 2020 season with the team. He is confident that a deal will get done and has assumed that since the day that they traded for him. The Rams could do a lot worse than pairing two of the top defensive players together for the foreseeable future.

Will all sports seemingly moving to Florida to finish their seasons, the NHL is looking towards Los Angeles instead. The league formally announced their plan to proceed with a playoff tournament along with a few potential locations where they could hold it. With nothing else going on in the city, it could be the perfect place for hockey to crown a champion.
