LA Roundup: USC is a QB Paradise, Chargers Ready for New Look, Lakers Preparing for Playoffs, and More!

There was plenty of news coming out of college football in Los Angeles on Monday.

ESPN recently named USC as the top quarterback college in the country since the start of the BCS era. Names like Carson Palmer, Mark Sanchez, and Sam Darnold have all been products of the university. While their NFL production may not match the prestige that they were drafter with, their time at USC was certainly highlighted. While the program has fallen on hard times lately, history holds them in high regard for the premiere position in football.

USC’s top wide receiving prospect, Michael Pittman Jr, also spoke with NFL legend Reggie Bush about his future in the league. He wanted teams to know that regardless of where he goes in the draft, they will be getting a workhorse and a good teammate. His draft stock has risen throughout the offseason and he will probably go in the second round.

On the other side of town, UCLA just lost out on a good quarterback in Austin Burton. The former Bruin is in the process of transferring to Purdue after not getting the starting job at UCLA. While the Bruins are set at starting QB, Burton’s presence on the squad was still impactful and he brought a great football IQ. Purdue’s offensive schemes should help him thrive in their system.

In NFL news, the Chargers are finally scheduled to release their new uniforms on Tuesday morning. The highly anticipated reveal comes after much speculation and hype from fans and players alike. Chargers fans only have a few hours to wait before the future look goes public.

Finally, we took a look at a recent interview that Laker’s forward Jared Dudley had with Sportsnet LA. He gave an inside look at how the team was handling the shutdown and how they have been communicating. Dudley stressed that no one had gone into ‘vacation mode’ and that the squad has the same intensity that they’ve had all season. This Lakers team has been special and should they get the opportunity to show it in the playoffs, it seems that they’ll be ready.
