Chargers Draft: Potential 2nd Round Pick, Pittman Reveals What Teams Can Expect

The wide receiver class in this year’s draft is expected to be the deepest in quite a few years. There are a few household names already, like Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb and Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, but the talent extends far beyond those two.

For teams looking at taking a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round, there are plenty of impact players that should be available. One of those is former USC wide receiver, Michael Pittman.  In an interview with FOX College Football’s Reggie Bush, Pittman expressed what he believes teams can expect from him right away.

“Year 1 you can expect a productive receiver who’s gonna be working his way towards that receiver 1 spot.. And I’m just gonna try to make my team better whether it’s special teams or offensive play, there’s no job that’s too small. I’m gonna get better each year until I get what I want.”

While he may not be as well known as some other incoming rookies, Pittman has the attitude and talent to be one of the best in this class. His time at USC went unheralded, but he finished the 2019 season with 1,275 scrimmage years and 11 touchdowns. His fantastic routes and ability to catch anything around him have gone under the radar most of the offseason, but teams are finally starting to take notice.

For a Chargers team that will have a new signal-caller this coming season, someone like Pittman would a perfect complement to form a fearsome receiving group. If he is indeed available when the Chargers pick in the 2nd round, Pittman could wind up being an absolute steal and must-have player.

We are only a few days away from finding out what the future of the franchise will look like, but expect quite a few surprises. No draft is complete without a few twists and turns, and this year’s event is looking like it will be more of the same.
