LAFC News: LA Winger Going to Europe?

Word broke out that the Agent of LAFC winger Brian Rodriguez is trying to take the talent of his client to Europe. Unione Calcio Sampdoria in Italy is supposedly interested in acquiring Rodriguez’s services.

Sampdoria is a part of the Seri A league and previously finished 9th in the 2018-19 season but is currently in the bottom of the standings this year.

Rodriguez’s agent Pablo Bentancourt discussed the potential move in an interview with Samprodisnews.net.

“I am doing everything to take him to Europe, particularly Italy, as he is a champion, He reminds me of Ruben Sosa, a former Inter and Lazio player, in a modern vein. Sampdoria are very interested.”

Rodriguez is soon to be 20 years old and has appeared in nine matches for LAFC accumulating 497 minutes played with one assist. He debuted in the league at 19 years old and was immediately thrust into the lineup after Christian Ramirez was traded away, Carlos Vela suffered a hamstring injury, and Adama Diomande took a leave of absence.

Rodriguez has also been playing for Uruguay’s senior team helping to build his resume for when he is ready to jump ship for Europe. He’s played in four games for the country’s U-20 team scoring two goals.

There is no doubt that the LAFC forward will eventually move on to play in Europe, but all is on hold with the worldwide pandemic going on. Rodriguez would best be slated for another year in the MLS to grow more, but if he were to leave before then, he would still be able to hold his own.
