While we knew this would eventually happen at some point during this offseason, it doesn’t make it hurt any less. After six years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kíke Hernandez hit the open market in search of a new contract. Unfortunately, that team is not Los Angeles but the Boston Red Sox.
According to MLB reporter Mark Feinsand, Hernandez and the Red Sox have agreed to a two-year $14 million deal. While Los Angeles could have made such an offer to the former utility man, it just couldn’t guarantee him a starting gig that he was looking for.
Per source, Hernandez’s deal with the Red Sox is for two years and $14 million. https://t.co/59edxPM6nM

During his time as a Dodger, Kíke became a fan favorite. Whether it be crushing home runs in the postseason, flashing the leather, or his quirky personality, he always gave fans a show.

On the bright side, Hernandez will be given the opportunity to start every day with the Red Sox as well as be with former teammate Alex Verdugo. He did get to go out with a bang as he helped the Dodgers win their first World Series in 32 years.
