USC Women’s Volleyball Faces Big Challenges in Upcoming Matches
The Women of Troy aim to extend their winning streak and solidify their conference position
The USC Women of Troy volleyball team, fresh off their triumphant victory at the Trojan Invitational, is gearing up for two crucial matches against future conference rivals they haven’t faced in a decade. This marks a pivotal moment in the season as they look to build on their current three-match winning streak and maintain their .500 record of 4-4.
These upcoming showdowns are part of the Boilermaker Challenge and will be held at Purdue’s Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette, Indiana, as confirmed by a USC press release. Tomorrow, on September 14th at 2:30 p.m. PT, USC will take on the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, who currently hold a 4-3 record. On the following day, Friday the 15th, the Women of Troy will face off against the formidable Purdue team, boasting a 5-2 record this season. The match against Purdue is scheduled to commence at 5 p.m. PT.
Volleyball enthusiasts and fans can catch all the action as both games will be broadcasted on the Big Ten Network, with commentary provided by Emily Ehman and Chris Vosters.
Head coach Brad Keller, in his fourth year at USC, has high hopes for senior outside hitter Skylar Fields. Standing at 6’2″, Fields has been on fire in the early part of the season, consistently delivering double-digit performances. Her stellar play has justified her selection as a Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team member, and she further solidified her reputation by earning the Most Outstanding Player award at the recent Trojan Invitational. Notably, Fields is not alone in her excellence, as Comrades Gala Trubint and Lindsey Miller also secured spots on the All-Tournament Team alongside her.
With their recent stellar performances, the Women of Troy are poised to continue their winning streak and make a strong statement in their upcoming matches against Illinois and Purdue. These games hold significant importance as they provide a glimpse of the team’s potential and a chance to solidify their position in the conference. The USC Women’s Volleyball team is ready to give it their all on the court, and fans eagerly await these exciting clashes that promise high-intensity action and competitive spirit.
