USC men’s basketball: Boogie Ellis Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week for second time

Ellis’ career high 33-point performance in USC’s 85-75 win over Stanford on Saturday helped clinch the award for the senior guard

For the second time this season, Boogie Ellis has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week.

Ellis’ career high 33-point performance in USC’s 85-75 win over Stanford on Saturday helped clinch the award for the senior guard. He also had a career high seven assists against the Cardinal. In USC’s 97-60 win over Cal on Thursday night, Ellis scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Ellis won the Pac-12 Player of the Week award for the first time after scoring 31 points in USC’s 77-64 upset win over UCLA in January.

“Boogie made some really good plays,” USC head coach Andy Enfield said following the Trojans’ win over Stanford. “It’s very impressive to score 33 points and have seven assists in the same game. That means he made the right decisions.”

Per a press release from USC Athletics, “Ellis’ 33 points scored against Stanford were the most by a Trojan since Onyeka Okongwu also scored 33 points on Nov. 19, 2019. The 33 points are the second-most scored by a Pac-12 player this season.”

Ellis leads USC in scoring at 17.1 points per game, which ranks third in the Pac-12.

USC returns to action on Thursday night on the road against Colorado. Tip off is at 6 pm.
