Will Korey Foreman have a breakout year in 2023?
USC defensive lineman Korey Foreman’s career with the Trojans hasn’t exactly gone according to plan so far. In two years at USC, the former No. 3 ranked recruit in the 2021 class has made 24 tackles with 2.5 sacks and an interception.
But there’s reason to be hopeful heading into year three.
247Sports.com posted an article earlier this week titled “Former highly-rated recruits we still believe in” and Foreman was the first player mentioned.
247Sports national recruiting reporter Greg Biggins wrote of Foreman: “He is now draft-eligible so motivation shouldn’t be a problem and he’ll be on a team competing for a playoff berth. If Foreman can put it all together and stay healthy, there is no question he can resurrect his once-promising career.”
Foreman made his best play as a Trojan last season when he clinched USC’s 48-45 win over UCLA with an interception of Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Outside of that moment, he didn’t have too many other highlights though playing only 231 total snaps, which ranked fourth among Trojan edge defenders.
This fall, Foreman will compete with Romello Height, Georgia State transfer Jamil Muhammad and Solomon Byrd for reps at USC’s rush end position. The Trojans will have to fill the void left by Tuli Tuipulotu, who entered the NFL Draft. Tuipulotu played 733 snaps last season and was considered USC’s top defensive player.
Pro Football Focus gave Foreman the fifth best overall defensive grade of any USC player in 2022. He certainly as a shot at a break out season.
