USC News: Former QB JT Daniels Could be Heading to SEC

It was just over a month ago that JT Daniels had announced he was entering the transfer portal after losing the starting quarterback job to Kedon Slovis.

After throwing for 2,672 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2018, he didn’t even make it through one game in 2019 suffering a season-ending knee injury. True freshman Kedon Slovis stepped in and didn’t look back as he threw for 3,502 yards and 30 touchdowns with 9 interceptions.  While Clay Helton has expressed to Daniels that he is more than welcome to return to USC.

Despite that, there have been reports that the former signal-caller has been showing a growing interest in the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs who would greatly help the offense after losing QB Jake Fromm who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

It’s hard to truly understand where he wants to go with the current pandemic stopping him from visiting schools but the Bulldogs are looking more likely to be his eventual landing spot. While he may not be eligible for this upcoming season, the Bulldogs are fighting for his services in 2021. What we know for certain is that his time with USC is over as the Trojans already have a quarterback who has been said could be a potential Heisman Trophy contender this season.

Whoever lands Daniels will be getting a top-notch talent who came to USC as a 5-star prospect and was rated as the No. 2 overall player from California in 2018. He beat out all other competition that year as a freshman to secure the starting gig after Sam Darnold left for the draft.
