In an impressive showcase of skill, former UCLA special teams standout Ka’imi Fairbairn delivered a remarkable performance against the formidable Steelers over the weekend. The kicker displayed unwavering accuracy, ensuring he didn’t miss a single attempt during the game. His precision proved to be the catalyst as the Texans secured their first triumphant home game in more than a year.
Week 4 of the NFL season unveiled yet another victorious chapter for the Houston Texans, a team that had endured a challenging past two seasons. The Texans underwent a coaching change twice consecutively, leaving fans in anticipation of brighter days. Their fortunes took an unexpected turn last year when they narrowly missed out on the coveted number one overall draft pick, having clinched a win against their divisional rivals, the Indianapolis Colts, in the final game of the 2022 season.
Surprisingly, the second pick in the draft might have been a blessing in disguise for the franchise. After narrowly missing out on Heisman winner Bryce Young, who went to the Carolina Panthers, Houston opted for C.J. Stroud from Ohio State. The young quarterback wasted no time in making his mark, embarking on a scorching start to his rookie career. With over 1,200 yards and six passing touchdowns under his belt, Stroud has yet to throw a single interception, despite playing behind a beleaguered offensive line.
Ka’imi Fairbairn, K, Houston Texans – Had another busy day in Houston’s 30-6 win over Pittsburgh, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts (from 36, 38, and 39 yards out) while going a perfect three-for-three on PATs. Three of his kickoffs went for touchbacks.
Ka’imi Fairbairn’s contribution to the team’s offense through his precise kicking has been instrumental in racking up points, especially during moments when Stroud’s unit faces challenges. The former UCLA Bruin has maintained an impressive 11 out of 12 make rate on field goals this year, with his only miss occurring during a demanding 50-yard field goal attempt against the Colts in week 2.
Now, as a vital part of a dynamic offense led by emerging talents like C.J. Stroud, running back Dameon Pierce, and breakout wide receiver Nico Collins, the former Bruins kicker has seized numerous opportunities to showcase his prowess in the early stages of the 2023 season.
