UCLA Women’s Volleyball Welcomes Kelly Reeves as Assistant Coach
Former Champion Kelly Reeves Joins Coaching Staff
The UCLA Bruins’ connection with their athletes extends beyond their playing days, as their experiences remain etched in history. Graduating athletes often revisit the university, and in some cases, their ties are so strong that they return as coaches to share their knowledge with the next generation.
In a prime example of this, the UCLA women’s volleyball team is currently witnessing the seamless transition of Kelly Reeves, a 2011 indoor champion, into her role as their new assistant coach. Kelly’s journey with UCLA is notable; she was not only the program’s first All-American in the 2013 season but also embarked on a coaching path two years later. Her coaching journey began with WAVE volleyball’s staff and extended to multiple Los Angeles region teams.
The decision to come back to her alma mater felt right for Kelly at this point in her life. Head coach Jenny Johnson Jordan expresses her enthusiasm about having Kelly join the coaching staff. The connection between the former champion and the team’s current head coach adds a unique dynamic, fostering an environment of growth and learning.
Kelly Reeves’ return to UCLA is a testament to the lasting bond between athletes and their alma mater. Her experience as a champion and her subsequent coaching journey bring a valuable perspective to the women’s volleyball team. With her expertise, the team aims to reach new heights, aspiring to achieve similar accomplishments to Kelly’s successful playing career with UCLA.
