Men’s Basketball AP Poll: UCLA Wins Again, Remains in Top 5

The Bruins’ winning streak has reached eight games, further asserting them as a top team on the national stage.

Fresh off of winning the Pac-12 title, the Bruins held steady in the national picture.

UCLA men’s basketball (25-4, 16-2 Pac-12) stayed put at No. 4 in the latest edition of the AP Poll on Monday. The Bruins earned 1,391 points – up from 1,363 points from a week ago – and remained inside the top 10 for the ninth-straight week.

Remaining where they were the past two weeks, UCLA tied its best showing in the AP Poll since Jan. 31, 2022. The Bruins have now been inside the top four during Pac-12 play for the third team this season, after doing so just twice in the previous five seasons.

All 62 voters had the UCLA ranked inside the top seven, and only two had them outside the top four. Eight voters had the Bruins at No. 2 on their ballots.

UCLA just notched their second road sweep in three weeks, starting with a win at Utah on Thursday. The Bruins went out to Boulder to face Colorado on Sunday, and emerged victorious to win the Pac-12 regular season title outright.

UCLA currently ranks No. 4 in the NET, No. 2 in the KenPom, No. 3 in the T-Rank and No. 4 in the BPI.

The entire top five of the AP Poll remained the same, but there was movement elsewhere in the top 10. Marquette climbed up from No. 10 to No. 6, while Baylor also made a two-spot leap up to No. 7.

Arizona only fell one spot from No. 7 to No. 8 after losing to Arizona State on a half-court buzzer-beater on Saturday.

Again, Arizona and UCLA were the only Pac-12 teams to make the top 25, and no one else even got a vote. The Wildcats beat the Bruins back in January, but the blue and gold will host their rivals at Pauley Pavilion in the regular season finale on Saturday.

That showdown could help decide whether UCLA or Arizona earns a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the West Region of the NCAA tournament.
