Linebacker Bobby Wagner, who was released by the Rams in what appears to be a salary cap move, continues to have a giving attitude.
The salary-saving cuts have begun for the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, and linebacker Bobby Wagner – who just signed with the team last offseason – is one notable casualty.
It was initially reported that the split between the two parties was mutual, but Wagner disputed that. All of this is a harsh reminder of the business side of the NFL, something players have to come to terms with at some point in their careers.
But there’s another side of the league many don’t often see.
And Wagner is experiencing that side of it too, as it’s reported he donated money to help a Rams employee’s family.
Per Jordan Rodrigue, who covers the NFL for The Athletic, “Earlier this month a part-time Rams employee suffered a death in the family. Bobby Wagner donated $5,000 to help the family with funeral expenses. Just wanted to share that.”
Wagner, who will be entering his 12th NFL season, still appears to have plenty left to offer an NFL team and should have no shortage of suitors. Last offseason several teams showed interest, including the Cowboys, Bills, and Ravens, before he ultimately signed with the Rams.
In his one season with Los Angeles, Wagner registered 140 tackles, two interceptions, and six sacks in 17 games.
