The Rams have had their ups and down moments so far this season. While they are still 4-2, there are some areas that caught the attention of fans. One of the biggest inconsistencies that has been talked about for the Rams has been the kicker position.
During the team’s abbreviated training camp, there was a 3-man kicker battle that lasted into early September. Of course, fans now know that rookie Samuel Sloman came out on top with the job, but should he have? The former Redhawk is 7-9 in field goal attempts and 15-18 in extra points. What’s more, is that one of those missed field goals may have been the difference-maker during the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Fans have quickly turned on Sloman and questioned why he was named the kicker instead of Lirim Hajrullahu and Austin MacGinnis. They’ve gone as far as wanting the team to release the young kicker and search for a new one. Well, fans may be getting what they asked for as the Rams have signed Kai Fortbath off of Chicago’s practice squad.
This doesn't come as much of a surprise as rookie Samuel Sloman continues to miss PATs and is having kickoff issues. Sean McVay spoke Monday about Sloman. pic.twitter.com/70Ew03VmT4

The situation wasn’t what the Rams had hoped for in the post-Zuerlein era. Hopefully, the team will be able to get more steady production out of Sloman or move on and see if Fortbath can be relied upon. With the signing, Forbath has now been apart of 11 of the 32 organizations. So while his presence could indicate a short leash for Sloman, he may not be the Rams savior himself.
