Rams: 3 Keys to Get Back in the Win Column Against the New York Giants

Last week, Los Angeles faced a last-minute pass interference call that ultimately led to the Buffalo Bills taking the lead and sealing the win. Though it was a tough blow to witness, it showed the capability the offense has this year. Luckily for the team, they face an easy matchup with the 0-3 Giants this week.

Here are 3 keys that could help the Rams rebound in Week 4 while keeping New York out of the win column.

3. Run, Darrell, Run

The Giants have a less than stellar defense that the Rams can expose even more this week. While the Giants have allowed 369 rushing yards (123.0 Yds/G, 20th) this season, they held the San Francisco 49ers to 93 rushing yards in 35 rushing attempts (2.7 YPC). To be fair though, the 49ers backfield didn’t have lead back Raheem Mostert or Tevin Coleman. Meanwhile, Darrell Henderson has had back to back great weeks in which he rushed 32 times for 195 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Having success against a tough run defense that the Bills had should only benefit the Rams heading into their matchup with New York.

2. Shut Down the Passing Game

The Rams’ biggest weakness has been their passing defense which ranks 21st in the league. Just last week they allowed Josh Allen to throw for 311 yards (9.4 YPA) and 4 touchdowns. They ended up playing catch up the majority of the game. If the Rams have any hope of competing against the best of the NFL, then their defense has to step up and limit yards through the air. However, Daniel Jones isn’t much of a threat and the offensive line has struggled to protect him. With Saquon Barkley out for the year, and newly signed Devonta Freeman not off to a great start with the team, the run game is almost non-existent leaving the defense with once less thing to worry about. Jones is also the perfect target for the defense to rack up some more interceptions.

1. Unleash the Beast

Speaking of the Giant’s offensive line troubles, they have stated that they won’t be making any changes to it for their matchup against the Rams. The line has struggled to open up running lanes as well as keep Jones on his feet. So far this year they have allowed 9 sacks and 18 QB hits. That should have Aaron Donald licking his chops just thinking about it. We all know the type of damage that Donald can create for opposing offense but in case you don’t, the defensive tackle currently has a forced fumble/fumble recovery, three sacks, and leads the league in total quarterback pressures (20). This has the making of another big game for Aaron Donald and the rest of the Rams’ defense.
