LA Roundup: Dodgers Bring Back an Old Friend, USC Lands Another Impact Recruit, and More!

Welcome to another roundup, where we gather all of LA sports’ biggest stories of the day!

Wednesday started with a reunion that few probably saw coming. With a farm system and 40-man roster full of talented catchers, the Dodgers brought back old friend Tim Federowicz on a minor league deal for the 2021 season. Tim was a member of the Dodgers from 2011 to 2014 and was primarily an option off of the bench throughout his time in LA. He will likely serve as a depth piece in the event of an injury to one of their main catching options, and he should be a great mentor to the pitching prospects coming up within the farm system.

In college football news, the Trojans had a fantastic signing day capped by the addition of quarterback Jaxon Dart out of Corner Canyon High School in Utah. The recruiting game has been slow forming with the coronavirus pandemic, but USC is still on track to maintain their top 10 ranking after another solid addition in Dart. As the nation’s leading passer, Dart projects to be a high-caliber threat on offense for a team that will need a new leader under center once Kedon Slovis moves on after the 2021 season.
