LA Roundup: The Significance of Finishing the Season for the Lakers, Chargers Re-Sign Key Defensive End, and More!
If you somehow missed the biggest sports news of the past few weeks, your favorite basketball insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, said it best: “The NBA is back.” The official vote won’t happen until Thursday, but the proposal is widely expected to pass. SO what does this mean for the Lakers? Quite a bit, as it turns out. More than anything, it gives Los Angeles a hope for celebration after a truly difficult year thus far. Let’s hope that the King and company can finish what they started!
The Chargers have brought back the one and only Damion Square for another year, hoping that he will help anchor their defense. Square has been with the team since 2014 and has carved out a nice role for himself. The team loves his energy and the physical presence that he brings, and they hope that he has more of that in-store after signing a new contract.
Another LA team, meanwhile, is not bringing back a familiar face. The LA Kings have announced that they will not be bringing back their long time minor league coach, Mike Stothers. Stothers has been the coach of the Ontario Reign for the past 6 years and was a key figure within the franchise. There was no clear indication of why the team was not renewing his contract, but his impact will be felt going forward nonetheless.
