LA Roundup: David Price Shows His Generosity, Cam Akers and the Key to the Rams’ Success, NBA Setting Goals, and More!

Times are hard right now, there’s no denying that. So much so, that MLB teams across the league have begun to cut players from their systems in search of financial relief. While the Dodgers have not released any players, they are still surviving on weekly $400 stipends instead of their normal contracts. With this in mind, new Dodger pitcher David Price showed why he is such a beloved player by promising every minor league in the Dodgers’ system $1,000 for the month of June. This was a wonderful gesture from Price but speaks to a much larger problem in today’s game. It’s time for baseball to do better.

Rams‘ star wide receiver, Cooper Kupp, has also done his part to help those in need with a generous donation earlier this week. Kupp distributed $15,000 worth of Nike apparel to kids and families in need. In total, 23 deserving families benefitted from his generous act, all chosen by the local school district. These acts of kindness may seem small or insignificant, but to these individuals, it changed everything.

The Rams are also looking to build chemistry with a whole new offensive unit this upcoming season. One important piece to that puzzle will be rookie, Cam Akers. The team clearly saw the potential he flashed at Florida State with a terrible blocking line. With some additional help, the sky is the limit for Akers and he will be important to QB Jared Goff after the departure of Gurley. Let’s hope the Rams struck gold in this year’s draft.

The NBA is moving closer to a decision as a board of governors meeting Friday morning cleared a few things up. While there are rumored to be four different proposals up for a vote, Commissioner Adam Silver has set a goal to resume games by the end of July. This would give players 2 months to prepare and would give the league enough time to make the preparations necessary. With any luck, we’ll be seeing players report to their hometowns very soon!
