LA Roundup: What We Know about the MLB Proposal, Kobe Honored by Sports Academy, Justin Herbert Selling Jerseys, and More!

Major League Baseball is doing all they can to find a way back to playing games, whatever it takes. They held a meeting today with representatives from the Players Association, hoping to make ground on a plan that suits both sides. While reports are still coming in, it seems that important issues such as the health and safety of everyone involved were discussed. This is an issue that many players were still wavering on, so this is a good sign. If both parties are able to come to an agreement, we may see baseball return next month!

While baseball is making strides in the right direction, it may be another league that breaks through first. The MLS is working hard to make strides as well. Their approach has been completely different, however. They have only asked for a 20% cut to player salaries in return for cooperation and agreement to the proposals being made. Again, there is much that needs to be done before anything becomes official, but progress is being made.

In basketball news, the sports facility program formerly known as the Mamba Sports Academy is undergoing rebranding. CEO Chad Faulkner announced Tuesday morning that they would be ‘retiring’ the Mamba name out of respect for the late Kobe Bryant. Kobe joined Faulkner and helped create his company into something greater than what it used to be. His legacy will live on, as the company intends to create memorials for Kobe at both facility locations. Whether this is the right way to go about honoring him is up for debate, but the mamba mentality will live on forever.

Lavar Ball is once again hitting the LA headlines. This time it was about all three of his boys. For some reason Lavar has yet to give up on his dream of all three Ball boys on the Lakers. Last week, he gave a take in which he stated that the 3 of them would wind up playing for LA. Whether this ever comes to pass or not, we missed these crazy takes. Never change Lavar, never change.

The Chargers got their man in Justin Herbert at sixth overall. Less than a month into his professional career, the rookie is already making a name for himself nationwide. Herbert came in as the 5th highest player in total jersey sales, a pretty decent honor. While the kid has a long way to go before he can be considered as the saving grace of the franchise, this is a good start.
