LA Roundup: Chargers Contemplate Draft Choices, Trojans Expecting Improvement, Puig Getting Offers, and More!

Sunday offered a nice change of pace in Los Angeles, as both football squads prepared for the upcoming draft.

The LA Charger’s general manager Tom Telesco help an interview with reporters the other day and talked about this year’s draft class. While many people expect them to take a quarterback with their first pick, Telesco’s comments may challenge that belief. All in all, a general manager’s words mean little this close to the draft so we’ll have to wait and see what happens!

Meanwhile, the Rams have choices of their own as the proud owners of two 2nd round picks. While they have many needs to fill, the receiver class this year is incredibly deep. Knowing the Rams, they will probably be looking for the best players available instead of specific needs, but should they? We are only a few short days away from finding out ourselves.

USC Head Coach Clay Helton has been on the hot seat for some time now. Many expected the Trojans to move on from the head coach after last season but he returns with big aspirations. Helton truly believes in the potential of next year’s group, but especially in three young stars in the making. With their help, USC hopes to once again compete for the Pac 12 title.

Lastly, our old friend Yasiel Puig checked in with a few news updates of his own. He confirmed that he has indeed received offers from teams around the league. With the baseball shutdown, however, any negotiations had to be put on hold and his season is still in limbo. Puig also offered his thoughts on whether he believes the season will still be played.
