Lakers’ Newcomer Cam Reddish: A Fresh Face to Watch

Lakers' Offseason Addition Cam Reddish Ready for New Season

Amidst the Lakers’ endeavors to retain their playoff core, the upcoming season brings not only familiar faces but also a wave of new talent to the purple and gold court.

One of the notable signings that took place during the summer was Cam Reddish, the newest addition to the Lakers’ wing lineup. Addressing the media, Reddish shared his perspective on the contributions he aims to make during the upcoming season.

Cam Reddish’s skill-set has shown glimpses of promise during his time in the NBA, yet its full potential has yet to be fully realized. The Lakers, however, have chosen to take a calculated risk on this young player, recognizing the bursts of potential that have emerged.

Drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2019 NBA draft, Reddish’s journey began at Duke University, where he thrived under the mentorship of renowned coach Mike Krzyzewski. He shared the court with other top high school prospects, including Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett.

While Williamson and Barrett earned the spotlight as top three draft picks, Reddish quietly contributed as the third component of the trio that captured the nation’s attention.

Williamson’s remarkable performance led him to be the top pick in the draft, joining the Pelicans after the franchise made a pivotal trade involving Anthony Davis, a move that has undoubtedly benefited the Lakers.

Barrett’s progress with the Knicks has been steady, earning him a second contract extension with New York. He also gained valuable playoff experience, most recently facing the Cavs and Heat this year.

Reddish carved out his own playoff moments, particularly during his time with the Atlanta Hawks. His standout performance included a memorable three-point barrage in Game 6 against the eventual 2021 champion Milwaukee Bucks.

Following his stint with the Knicks, Reddish was acquired by the Portland Trail Blazers, where he contributed bench minutes to support the likes of Damian Lillard and company, showcasing mixed results.

As the Lakers gear up for the upcoming season, fans are hopeful that Cam Reddish will harness his potential and provide a significant contribution. The anticipation of witnessing his impact adds to the excitement surrounding LeBron James’ quest for his fifth championship ring and the franchise’s 18th overall.
