Lakers News: Betting Odds For What Could Be A Long Night In Memphis

The West’s No. 2 seed is ready for a rematch.

Your injury-depleted Los Angeles Lakers will be facing off against a relatively healthy Memphis Grizzlies club, the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, that has nevertheless struggled without ailing center Steven Adams.

Here are some odds and lines via The Action Network.

The Game Spread

Unsurprisingly, without LeBron James and probably D’Angelo Russell, too, the Lakers are massive nine-point underdogs. The real question isn’t whether or not they’ll lose, but by how much. I’d say take the over and hope things are over quickly.

Will Any Lakers Notch Double-Doubles?

Oddsmakers in Vegas believe that three LA players, starters Anthony Davis (-335 odds) and Jarred Vanderbilt (+300), plus probable starter Dennis Schröder (+390), all have a chance to hit that mark. Given that AD is averaging a double-double, and that he will now be responsible for even more of a scoring and rebounding load sans LBJ, he’s easily the safest bet.

Jarred Vanderbilt’s activity means he’s always a threat to notch a double-double. He had one on Sunday, a 15-point, 17-rebound masterpiece against the Dallas Mavericks. If you’re feeling frisky, go for it, but I think he’s a bit of a push.

Jarred Vanderbilt’s Total Steals

As you can tell, yours truly is a big Vanderbilt guy. I love his energy and hustle, and it’s just so refreshing on this roster to see a defense-first guy who doesn’t feel like an injury risk every time he lands (sorry, AD). His projected total steals tally is an over/under of 0.5 swipes. He’s averaging 1.6 per for LA, and 1.1 on the season. Take the over.
