Lakers News: LeBron James Status Downgraded for Tuesday’s Game Against Grizzlies

The King is OUT for tomorrow’s matchup

Bad news came barreling down today, as it was announced that Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward LeBron James would miss tomorrow’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers have James’ injury listed as “right foot soreness.”

James injured what appeared to be his right ankle yesterday against the Dallas Mavericks during the third quarter. He writhed on the floor for several minutes before getting up and completing the game, which LA won, 111-108.

It was mentioned in the broadcast that James said he heard a “pop.” There’s no indication of what that exactly means, but he was clearly doing his best to stay on the floor yesterday.

The four-time MVP had been dealing with a lft foot injury this season while still averaging MVP numbers with 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game.

The Lakers are going through a critical stretch in their schedule this week as three of their four matchups are only two games ahead of the purple and gold for play-in spots.

This represents a massive blow for Los Angeles, entering Memphis’ hostile environment. Let’s hope this injury is not as severe as it looked, and we’ll see James out on the court sometime this week.

In the meantime, Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers crew must carry the load and continue to creep up in the standings.
