Lakers News: How Los Angeles Mounted Season’s Biggest Comeback In Dallas

LA has won three straight.

Your Los Angeles Lakers put on quite the display of tenacity and endurance Sunday at American Airlines Arena, when they rallied back to beat Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, 111-108 after trailing by as much as 27 points in the second quarter.

LA’s frontcourt was the star of the show. Center Anthony Davis notched a 30-point, 15-rebound double-double, power forward Jarred Vanderbilt had a 15-point, 17-rebound double-double of his own. All-Star small forward LeBron James scored 26 points and pulled down eight boards.

LA head coach Darvin Ham spoke with gathered media following the victory, a nationally broadcast affair on ABC that has the media talking today.

“It’s huge man, it was a huge shot in the arm, the way we were able to continue to scratch, claw, fight, compete,” Ham said of his team’s fight. “[There were] some tough, depressing moments in the first half as [the Mavericks] were building their lead. But the big thing we kept stressing was that we can’t stop competing, we can’t stop defending, continue to try to hold them to one possession when we can. And get it and play fast, play downhill. The guys never got discouraged. They had that look of frustration but it wasn’t a look of [defeat].”

The victory marked the biggest comeback of the 2022-23 NBA season to date.
