There are a lot of familiar faces.
The NBA’s season is quickly passing by. We are officially through the All-Star break, and less than two months away from the NBA’s Play-In Tournament, something the Lakers are hoping to get into.
However, the All-Star break is a great time to check in and see how the Lakers players are doing, and even more so, how the former Lakers are faring this season.
Over at The Ringer, they ranked the top 100 players in the NBA, and have updated them throughout the season. If you’re a fan of the NBA, I cannot recommend the list and analysis enough.
The most recent rankings are updated as of Feb. 16, so let’s see where the current and former Lakers stand on their list, with just a little analysis from them on each one. You should read the full article for more analysis on the rankings and each player.
No. 8: LeBron James
“One of the greatest players of all time, and still a dominant force capable of excelling in any role.”
No. 16: Anthony Davis
“Dominant defender capable of anchoring a team, and one of the best interior finishers in recent history.”
Those are all the current Lakers on this list, so now let’s get to the former Lakers.
No. 33: Julius Randle
“A hard charger who is capable of punishing defenders with his relentless physical play and secondary playmaking.”
No. 34: Brandon Ingram
“Versatile offensive presence who can score at a high volume but has adapted his game to play with other stars.”
No. 56: Brook Lopez
“DPOY candidate who blocks, alters, and wards off as many shots as anyone in the league, while bringing plenty to the table on offense.”
No. 75: Kyle Kuzma
“Hyper-confident forward who’s searching for a consistent avenue of production to raise his true ceiling.”
No. 86: Ivica Zubac
“Interior force on defense who does all the dirty work to compensate for limited shooting ability.”
No. 87: Alex Caruso
“Terrific role player whom every superstar would love to play with. Few have a larger impact on winning without ever touching the ball.”
No. 91: Jordan Clarkson
“Natural scorer who, in addition to filling it up, increasingly uses his talents as a conduit for healthy, balanced offense.”
The only notable current Laker omission is D’Angelo Russell, who the team brought back at this year’s trade deadline. While he’s not on the list now, maybe after a few more solid games with the Lakers, he’ll be right back in the top 100.
