Lakers: Watch A Young D’Angelo Russell Include Two Future Teammates In His All-Time Wishlist

The Lakers guard has two current teammates in his starting five.

The mid-2010s weren’t good times for the Los Angeles Lakers. LA ended up with a lottery pick more times than not, and was one of the NBA’s worst teams throughout the decade.

However, with those lottery picks came young promising players — and one of those players happens to be the current Lakers point guard, D’Angelo Russell.

Russell was the No. 2 overall pick by the Lakers in the 2015 NBA Draft and spent his first two seasons in Los Angeles. When the Lakers revamped their roster this past trade deadline, they traded back for their former first-round pick.

In his first stint in LA, a 19-year-old Russell was asked about who he would have in his starting five, including himself, and he happens to mention two of his current teammates in that list.

That’s an insane starting five that D-Lo rattled off in that interview, and most of the time, players don’t ever get to play with one of the players they mention in their starting five — yet D’Angelo is playing with two of them.

It’s crazy how life works sometimes. D-Lo was traded from LA in the summer of 2017 that sent him to the Brooklyn Nets, and we thought we’d never see him in the purple and gold again. But when the opportunity presented itself with this trade deadline, Vice President of Basketball Pperations Rob Pelinka made the Ohio State alum a Laker once again.

Russell looked mighty comfortable with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the court on Wednesday night. He was dishing it to Davis and James all night while scoring 21 points and knocking down three treys alongside the dynamic duo.

To have those types of things come true is crazy, and we should all be lucky that they are all playing with the Lakers.
