Lakers News: LeBron James Raves About Fit Of New LA Teammates

LBJ put on a show in his first game with the new Lakers.

Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward LeBron James enjoyed a solid night against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, in his first return to action since being waylaid by a left foot injury last week, following his record-setting night against the Oklahoma City Thunder last Tuesday.

In just 29:13 against NOLA, he scored 21 points (making his record-extending all-time total regular season points sum now 38,411), shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. He also grabbed six rebounds and six assists, and blocked one shot for good measure. LA blew out the Pellies, 120-102.

After the game, he spoke with gathered media member about how he felt playing alongside new additions D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Mo Bamba, and (technically) Davon Reed for the first time.

“I think we’re going to continue to build off tonight, and I think our skill set[s] all kind of fit each other,” James said of his new colleagues. “With Vando and D-Lo and Beas, three guys that just know how to play the game, we’re all just trying to get the ball popping, get the ball moving, have equal opportunity, and everybody’s trying to play to their advantage out on the floor.”

“So tonight we had 32 assists… 22 assists in our starting lineup, so that’s huge, so we want to try to continue that going forward,” James noted.

“I want the guys to enjoy the [All-Star] break but don’t get 100% detached,” James cautioned. “We want to come back and try and keep this thing going. I feel really good about what we have brewing, but it’s going to take a lot of commitment from us going down the stretch, so I look forward to that.”
