Lakers News: Darvin Ham Raves About LA’s New Additions

He loves the moves the team made at the deadline.

The Los Angeles Lakers were as active as anyone this past trade deadline. They made four different trades that netted them six new players, completely revamping the roster ahead of the All-Star break.

The Lakers desperately needed help from deep, as they ranked 26th in the league in three-point percentage. So, they added two of the top three-point shooters in the league in D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley — and a floor-spacing big in Mo Bamba.

The Lakers also needed some help on the defensive side of the ball, and Bamba, Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt all fill that role perfectly.

Overall, it was a very successful deadline for the Lakers, one that puts them right back into contention to make the playoffs in the Western Conference. Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was very pleased with the move the team made before the deadline.

“We feel good about what we were able to do,” Ham said. “We thought we were able to check a lot of boxes.”

The new-look Lakers haven’t had a lot of time to gel, but fortunately, they’ll have all All-Star break to work on their chemistry and get on the same page for the final 23 games of the season.

The Lakers will be relying on all five of these guys to play big roles for the team in the second-half of the season, so expect to see a lot of them over the final two months of the year.
