Lakers News: Bronny James To Play For Team USA At Nike Hoop Summit

One step closer to a team up with pops.

Bronny James, son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, has been selected as one of 13 players to represent the United States at this year’s Nike Hoop Summit per Marc stein.

The Nike Hoop Summit, which has taken place once a year since 1995, is an All-Star event that matches up the best basketball players in the US 19 and under against top young talent around the rest of the world. It is located in Portland which is very close to the Nike headquarters and many NBA and college scouts will be on the sidelines.

The 6’3 combo guard is currently in his senior season at Sierra Canyon High School and getting ready to move into the next stage of his career, whether that be college or the G-League. James is currently ranked number 28th in his class by ESPN and number 34th by 247Sports.

James was also selected as a McDonald’s All-American last month so the accolades are continuing to pile in for the 18-year-old. LeBron has confirmed that his son will make a decision as to where he will play next following the conclusion of his senior season.

It has been highly speculated that if James opts to not go the G-League route, he will choose from three finalist schools to attend: Oregon, USC, and Ohio State.

Many fans have Ohio State as the overwhelming favorite due to LeBron being from Akron, OH and admitting that he would’ve went there if he had chose to play for a university.

LeBron has made it clear multiple times that he will do everything in his power to play with his son for at least one season before he retires. The four-star recruit looks to be on the path there so far as he continues to impress scouts with his high basketball iq, ability to play both ends of the floor, and improvement from his first year to his last one.
