Lakers: Malik Beasley Raves About Star Teammates After LA’s Blowout Of New Orleans

The new Lakers starter weighs in.

Your Los Angeles Lakers’ new starting shooting guard, Malik Beasley, has a quiet night against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans at Crypto.com Arena. He scored just eight points, while shooting 2-of-7 from long range.

But his mere presence and reputation made him a fairly critical piece for LA, as he helped open up the floor for star teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis to get easy looks around the basket.

After the bout, a 120-102 Lakers home win, the 6’4″ swingman spoke at his locker with gathered reporters.

“We were excited, especially me, [starting point guard D’Angelo Russell] and [starting power forward Jarred Vanderbilt]. We’ve played together [before]. Being able to play with ‘Bron and AD shows that we can play with anyone. They make the work way easier,” Beasley raved about teammates LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

“It feels great,” Beasley said of James’s return to the floor after a three-game absence. “I know I [have] got to be shot-ready at all times, ’cause they’re going to double him. Same with AD. So it’s just being shot-ready at all times and [playing] the right way.”

Across his first three games with LA, Beasley is averaging 11.3 points while shooting 38.2% from the field and 32% from deep, plus 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and an assist.
