Laker fans should be very excited.
The betting odds for Kyrie Irving’s next team have officially been released. Irving, who requested a trade on Friday sending shockwaves through the league, is hoping to be moved in the next six days before the deadline.
At least three teams have been linked to Irving — the Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns — and the Miami Heat reportedly have interest, too. Also, you can’t rule out the Los Angeles Clippers on a big move to push them over the top. Here are the betting odds via SportsBettingAG on Twitter.
The Lakers have the best odds to land Irving at +200, followed by the Heat at +300 and the Mavericks and Clippers tied at +400. The Suns weren’t even in the top 10.
The Lakers are the favorite, which shouldn’t surprise many, as they’ve been linked to Irving since the beginning of last offseason. The fit makes sense for many reasons.
First, Irving is one of the best point guards in the NBA, and is a true scorer and ball-handler, which could take pressure off of LeBron James.
Second, speaking of James, Irving was with LeBron in Cleveland, and the pair even won a title together in 2016. James has made it clear that he’d love to play with Irving, and usually, he gets what he wants.
And finally, the Lakers would be able to get off of Russell Westbrook, who’s been an unnatural fit over the last one-plus seasons.
