Lakers News: Adorable Cameo Upstages Dennis Schröder’s Big Heat Postgame Chat

The Lakers starting point guard was not the star of his courtside interview.

Los Angeles Lakers starting point guard Dennis Schröder may not be a league MVP anytime soon, but he was certainly the MVP on the floor for LA last night, during a surprise 112-109 home win against a much healthier Miami Heat team.

Schröder scored an efficient 32 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor and 12-of-14 shooting from the charity stripe to lead the way for Los Angeles. He also pulled down four rebounds, grabbed four steals, and had one dime to boot.

Accordingly, the 6’2″ vet was awarded the coveted postgame Spectrum SportsNet Mike Trudell courtside interview slot. However, an adorable cameo totally upstaged him even as he and Trudell chatted about his big night: his new baby boy, born to wife Ellen Ziolo last month. Ellen was also on-hand last night.

“I got three beautiful kids, I got my wife, they support me every night, every day, my wife holding it down, so it’s great to have a family,” Schröder noted while hanging out with his littlest fan.

In discussing the game, Schröder express his excitement. “I mean that’s a big-time win. AD, ‘Bron, they [were] out, but we had a next-man-up mentality, so everybody chipped in, everybody did a great job, we played together, and luckily we got the dub.”

Given several Lakers absences on the table for tomorrow night’s bout against the Atlanta Hawks, LA may be hoping for a repeat performance courtesy of Schröder.
