LeBron James has put the Lakers on his back
Despite the Lakers still fighting for a playoff spot, LeBron James was given recognition for his impressive month primarily without Anthony Davis. Although James fell short of winning the Player of the Month award to Luka Doncic, James was still a finalist for the month.
During the month of December, James averaged 31.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists over 14 games. His heroics have not helped the Lakers produce as much wins as they would have hoped for with the Lakers finishing the month with a 7-9 record.
Doncic on the other hand finished the month averaging 35.1 points, 9.3 assists and 8.5 rebounds a game and went 11-4 with the Mavericks. Doncic also recorded the first ever 60+ points, 20+ rebounds and 10+ assists in NBA history.
While the accolade of the Player of the Month would have been nice to add to his Hall of Fame collection, the only goal in James mind is to win a championship at the end of the season. James is nearing the all-time scoring record and is expected to break it before the end of the season if he keeps up with his average so far (29.0 points).
The journey isn’t over for James yet but it’s clear once his career is all done, whenever that may be as he has not slowed down, he will be remembered as arguably the greatest player ever. There’s little doubt with the way he has been playing that plenty more Player of the Month awards will be in the horizon.
