Lakers News: Jason Tatum Names Lebron as MVP for 2020 Season

If he had it his way, Celtic’s forward Jason Tatum would vote for Lebron in this year’s MVP race.

In an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, Tatum talk about various topics, one of them being the MVP situation.

Tatum’s answer could be shocking due to the nature of the Lakers/Celtics rivalry, but it speaks to the respect that the young forward has for the King.

“At that age especially, you know. for him to be as good as he is and playing at such a high level, i think i would give it to him”

When the league was suspended due to the coronavirus, James was in the middle of one of his best seasons yet. The Lakers were atop the west and James was averaging 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists on the year.

Many journalists and media members who actually get a vote would argue that Giannis should win the award based on his excellent stats as well as the Buck’s top overall record. It is true that Milwaukee had been the more impressive team for the majority of the season, but they also had the most continuity out of contending teams. If you take into account all of the moving parts and new faces the Lakers have had to integrate this year, what James has accomplished is miraculous.

As we wait on the NBA season to hopefully find a way to play out the remainder of the season, one can only hope that the Lakers and Bucks meet again in the Finals. This is the matchup that the NBA world and its fans deserve. Both superstars left great impressions throughout the season but Giannis’s Bucks were beginning to slip while Lebron’s Lakers looked to have found their stride. It would’ve been interesting to see what played out if the shutdown hadn’t disrupted their momentum.
