Lakers News: Part-Owner Does His Part To Combat Coronavirus

Los Angeles has been one of the hotbeds for the coronavirus, even though officials acted quickly in getting people inside. New cases pop up every day, with no signs of improvement. In fact, most experts predict that Los Angeles is still three weeks out from its worst day of the virus. But that has not stopped people from doing whatever they can to combat this thing, including a Lakers’ owner.

The Chan Soon-Shiong Family Foundation, which is run by Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong and his wife, has offered to purchase St. Vincent out of bankruptcy for $135 million. Soon-Shang plans on turning the center into a ‘command center’ for COVID-19 that can relieve stress on other hospitals. Soon-Shiong noted that the city was certainly behind in that aspect.

That’s what every city should have done, they should have established a central command…we are in a war zone now.

Dr. Soon-Shiong is an owner of the Los Angeles Times, but he is also a part-owner of the Lakers as well. He is the latest in sports to take action against the virus, and the money he is backed by could certainly prove effective.
