LAFC News: Carlos Vela Out Indefinitely with Knee Injury

The most recent rendition of El Trafico did not go the way many fans expected as LAFC fell to Galaxy by a score of 2-0. That may not be the end of bad news for the young club as head coach Bob Bradley confirmed that star player Carlos Vela has suffered a grade 2 MCL injury.

Any kind of knee injury is never a good thing but the hope is that the club gives Vela enough time to properly recover and not rush him back. It may be weeks or months until he is fully recovered without any lingering issues.

LAFC will be without the former MVP but it may not be the end of the world. They proved during the MLS Is Back Tournament that they are more than capable of maintaining their offensive production without the talent and presence of Vela on the field. The loss of Vela may not even be their biggest worry as their defense has been quite disappointing this season after allowing a league-low 37 goals last year. Bob Bradley and company certainly have a lot to work on if they want to keep their hopes of an MLS Cup alive.

Up Next for LAFC

The black and gold will have to push all else aside as they get ready for a matchup against Real Salt Lake tomorrow Wed. 9/2 @ 7:30 PM.
