LAFC News: Club Partners with Allied Esports to Produce Virtual Games in the Name of Charity

As COVID-19 continues to run its course, many sports teams have been left wondering how to interact with fans now that the sports world has come to a halt. Not only is this a period of uncertainty for these clubs, but a time of distress for many people that are dealing firsthand with the virus.

With that in mind, LAFC announced Friday morning an agreement with Allied Esports to broadcast live virtual soccer games with the goal of raising funds for LA charities leading the fight against the virus.

The series will consist of 10 virtual FIFA20 games played against other MLS teams and will be broadcast on the club’s Twitch account at twitch.tv/lafc. The series has raised over $6,500 from fan donations since it began on March 29th and the hope is to keep raising even more.

The next matchup can be seen tonight at 7pm as our very own Martin Oregel will be going up against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s Alex Gonzalez.

With so much uncertainty and worry being seen across social media due to the times, an act like this from one of our LA squads is just what we need in order to see the positivity once again.
