Dodgers’ Pitcher Ryan Brasier’s Remarkable Turnaround Leads LA to Victory

Ryan Brasier's impact on the Dodgers' bullpen and his journey from the Red Sox

In a remarkable success story emerging from the Dodgers’ pitcher reclamation initiative, Ryan Brasier has become an invaluable asset to Dave Roberts’ roster since his release from the Red Sox earlier this season. Brandon Gomes, the General Manager, lauds Brasier’s humility, which perfectly mirrors his effectiveness for the LA team.

Despite acquiring several veterans at the trade deadline, it appears that Brasier’s introduction as a reliever option is one of the season’s most prudent moves. Departing from Boston with a daunting 7.29 ERA, the seasoned pitcher has transformed his game, boasting a 3.12 ERA for the year, largely due to his exceptional work in high-pressure situations for LA’s bullpen.

Having pitched almost 37 innings for his new team, Brasier has impressively lowered his ERA in Los Angeles to an astonishing 0.74. This accomplishment speaks volumes about both the player’s determination and the guidance provided by pitching coach Mark Prior as they addressed the challenges encountered during his tenure at Fenway Park.

Heading into October, Brasier is poised to play a significant role, building on his previous success in 2018 when he secured a World Series victory with the Red Sox against Roberts and the Dodgers, a team he had faced off against five years earlier.

“To Ryan’s credit, this is a guy who had pitched in the World Series, had a very good career, and he said ‘I’ll go to Arizona and work, make these adjustments.’ It speaks to his will to win, his compete,” Gomes said.

At the age of 36, Brasier is arguably enjoying one of his finest seasons since his World Series triumph. His performance is raising hopes among Dodgers fans, who eagerly anticipate another championship in just a few weeks.

Chavez Ravine has proven to be a welcoming home for the veteran pitcher since joining the Dodgers, and Brasier is undoubtedly determined to bring a championship to this new destination. For Dodgers faithful, the painful memory of Boston’s 2018 championship celebration on their own turf still lingers. However, with Brasier now on their side, the expectation is that the outcome in 2023 will be significantly different.
