Dodgers Dominate 2023 MLB Season: Strong Pitching and Hitting Propel LA to the Top
Dodgers' Strong Performance in 2023 Season Puts Them Ahead in NL West Standings
In a year marked by losses in free agency and a string of injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers have defied expectations, placing themselves in a familiar position in the latter stages of the 2023 regular season.
With the top spot in the NL West standings secured once again, the focus of Dodger manager Dave Roberts remains steadfast on finishing the season strong, regardless of the substantial lead they’ve amassed within their division. The Dodgers have clinched a 10-game winning streak in the month of August, marking their lengthiest stretch of victories this season. This achievement is coupled with the stumble of some divisional opponents.
This impressive performance has propelled the Dodgers to establish a substantial 10-game advantage over the Giants in the race for the NL West lead, leaving Arizona and San Diego trailing far behind.
“If you look back four or five weeks ago, could we have envisioned this situation? I think we could’ve saw ourselves playing like this. But, to be in this position, it takes other teams not playing well at all. So it is what it is… I’m not going to apologize for it, I’m just going to stress continuing to win baseball games and seeing where we’re at once we get to the postseason.”

Recent weeks have witnessed an upswing in the Dodgers’ starting pitching, with standout performances by Julio Urias and Bobby Miller in their respective outings. Miller’s exceptional display was particularly noteworthy during his best start of the season against the Brewers. He delivered a solid performance by pitching six efficient innings, conceding just one run while retiring an impressive 18 consecutive batters.
The bullpen, once ranked second-worst in the league earlier in the season, has undergone a remarkable transformation. The efforts of Evan Phillips and Brusdar Graterol have been consistent throughout the season, while midseason additions Ryans Yarbrough and Brasier have bolstered the late-inning clean up crew.
The Dodgers’ hitting core has proven to be equally resilient. While Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts emerge as potential MVP candidates, recent standout performances by David Peralta, Miguel Rojas, and James Outman have showcased the team’s ability to excel from the top to the bottom of the batting order.
Achieving victory in the major leagues is an arduous feat for any team, but the Dodgers are optimistic that their winning momentum will persist as they head into the challenging month of October.
