Dodgers News: LA Skipper Talks How Ryan Pepiot Has Improved

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts talks about what his young pitcher has worked on in the offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff is coming off an incredible 2022 campaign. LA had the best team ERA for the fourth season in a row and will look to continue that into 2023.

The Dodgers added veteran right-hander Noah Syndergaard in the offseason, while Julio Urias and Clayton Kershaw will be leading the charge for LA’s rotation.

At the back end of the rotation will be the Dodgers number seven overall prospect Ryan Pepiot.

Pepiot made his MLB debut in May 2022 for the Boys in Blue and started in nine games, going 3-0 with a 3.47 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to our friends over at Dodgers Nation about the young righty and said he has been putting in a lot of work this offseason and things he has worked on.

“Ryan’s working on the delivery, which he did a lot of this winter. The pace of play, the tempo has been really good. The misses aren’t as bad and he’s kind of understanding how his delivery works.”

Pepiot got a good run with the big-league club and was mainly a spot-starter in those nine games he started. The 25-year-old also came out of the bullpen in rare situations.

The right-handed pitcher had his highs and lows, as any rookie pitcher would. He sometimes struggled with his command, resulting in more extended at-bats and pitches for Pepiot.

He has the stuff to be a really good big-league pitcher for the Dodgers, and this season could be a good chance to show that he belongs a part of the rotation. Pepiot could also be a part of the bullpen if things did not go his way in the rotation, but he should be fine for now.

Roberts sounds optimistic about Ryan, and we can’t wait to see how he’s improved from last season.
