Dodgers News: Spring Training Game 1 Starter Announced

Spring training game 1 is on Saturday for the Dodgers.

GLENDALE, AZ – Wednesday at Camelback Ranch, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced the Cactus League season lid- lifter on Saturday afternoon. Right-handed rookie Michael Grove will getting the game 1 start.

He’s expected to go no more than 2 innings before giving way to offseason signing Bryan Hudson, a 25-year-old right-hander out of Illinois. 

Grove got into 7 games (6 starts) at the big league level last year with the Dodgers last year. He allowed 15 earned runs over 29.1 innings pitched (4.60 ERA). The pitcher spoke with DodgersNation.com about the news, sharing his excitement for the opportunity.

The Dodgers open the spring season on the road against the Brewers at American Family Fields of Phoenix. First pitch is set for 1:10 MST, 12:10 PST. The boys in blue welcome Cody Bellinger and the Cubs to Camelback Ranch on Sunday.
