Dodgers: Fans React to David Peralta Signing

Dodger fans seem ecstatic about adding the lefty outfielder

The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking care of their outfield issues this offseason little by little. ESPN baseball insider Jeff Passan announced the Dodgers signed veteran outfielder David Peralta to a one-year, $6.5 million deal on Friday.

Although it’s not a huge free agent signing or a blockbuster trade for an all-star level player, Peralta is still as solid and formidable as they come.

Dodger fans seem to recognize that as our friends over at DodgersNation asked the fans what they thought of the signing, and many are ecstatic by it.

The 35-year-old has spent most of his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2014-2022, and many matchups came against the Boys in Blue. In 111 games against LA, Peralta was hitting .251 with eight home runs, 40 RBIs, 96 hits, and a .702 OPS.
However, from the tweet above, the lefty also fairs well against rival San Diego Padres.

Overall, the Venezuelan is a career .281 batter, 110 home runs, 486 RBIs, 33 stolen bases, and an OPS of .796 with the D-Backs and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Peralta will be competing for some time at left field alongside Chris Taylor, Trayce Thomspon, and possibly Miguel Vargas, who could see some time in left field in 2023.

Don’t get it twisted, the 35-year-old will not be the starting left fielder come Opening Day or beyond, but you will see him get platooned from time to time.

When facing left-handed pitchers, you won’t see Peralta out there, but he thrived against right-handers. He slashed .251/.316/.415 and had a WRC+ of 104 against right-handed pitchers.
LA lacked a lefty outfielder, a side from Outman. Peralta brings experience, and with this move, LA is looking as solid as they can be in the outfield.
