Dodgers: Julio Urias Finally Earns Some Respect Among Game’s Best Pitchers

Dodgers lefty ace lands in MLB.com’s #Top10RightNow starting pitchers

Dodgers lefty ace Julio Urias has been on a tear these past two seasons. In 2021, Urias had a career-best 20 wins in the major leagues, which was the most in the league, and he had the highest win-loss percentage at .870. In 2022, the lefty probably had a better year posting a career-best 2.16 ERA and came up short of the NL Cy Young race placing in third.

The 26-year-old has had two back-to-back extraordinary seasons to show for it but has yet to achieve any significant achievements.

Hopefully, that all changes for the Mexican ace in 2023, and by the looks of it, things seem to be heading in that direction as he landed in MLB.com’s Top 10 Right Now List among starting pitchers.

Placing Urias at ten after finishing in the top three of NL Cy Young voting is a bit disrespectful, but leaving him out of this list would’ve been a travesty.

To go more in-depth into Julio’s 2022 campaign, he posted a 17-7 record that ranked fourth in the league. He had a 0.96 WHIP that ranked sixth in the league and seventh in hits per nine innings with 6.53.

And with all those stats I just threw out, Urias has yet to make an All-Star team. Crazy to believe, but it’s true. Urias has been the most consistent pitcher, not only for the Dodgers but in the entire league. He’s gotten better season by season and has not yet gained the recognition he deserves.

No. 7 is still criminally underrated, and this ranking can put people on notice that he is the real deal.
