Dodger News: Corey Seager Ranked Sixth-Best Shortstop Ahead of 2021 Season

MLB Network continued its series on the top 10 players at each position Tuesday night with the best shorts in the league. Even though there is some clear bias, Dodger fans would  argue that Corey Seager should be the No. 1 shortstop in the league, or at the very least a top 3 talent. Well, The Shredder had a different perspective as Seager didn’t even make the top 5 of shortstops. Instead, Seager was ranked the 6th best in the league. Trevor Story, Fernando Tatis Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Francisco Lindor, and Trea Turner all sit just above him on the list.

While its hard to argue against top guys like Lindor, \Tatis Jr., or possibly even Story but to leave Seager out of the top 5 is going to be a hot topic.

Granted Seager has missed a significant amount of time the past couple of season to injuries and its easy to forget his potential. Out of sight, out of mind. It could also be that the Seager was dinged a higher ranking due to his defense which hasn’t always been elite. However, no one can ignore what he’s been able to accomplish on the field when healthy. When he’s right, he’s just as good  offensively as the names listed above him, maybe even better.

The 26-year old shortstop has been a crucial part of the Dodgers’ lineup since his debut. Just take a quick stroll down memory lane to this past postseason. In 18 games, he batted .328 with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs en route to setting post season records and being named both the NLCS and World Series MVP. Besides arguably Randy Arozarena, who’s performance was also other worldly, no one was hotter than Seager.

Corey, who isn’t known to be vocal, will get a chance to prove this whole ranking wrong with another productive season. He’s slated to and teams will be lining up to acquire his talent, but not if Los Angeles can help it. Andrew Friedman would be out of his mind to let a player like him slip through his fingers.
