Andrew Friedman has been the giver of second chances to many current and former Dodgers. One of the most notable has been infielder Max Muncy. Before arriving in Los Angeles, the former Baylor product struggled during his stints with the Oakland Athletics. Towards the end of spring training in 2017, Muncy found himself jobless. Little did he know that his career would take a 180-degree turn.
Just a few months after his release the Dodgers came calling and he was signed to a minor-league deal. After raking for the Oklahoma Dodgers, Muncy found himself on Los Angeles’ Major League roster as well as participating in the 2018 Home Run Derby.
The past three seasons have seen Muncy blossom into a serious power threat in the lineup. Dodger fans have recognized how good he really is and so has MLB Network.

MLB Network has continued its segment where they decide the top 10 players at each position. While deciding who the ten best first basemen are in the league, Max Muncy was ranked the fifth-best. While Dodger fans may surely argue that 30-year old deserves more credit, going from a failed big leaguer to being recognized as a top-5 first baseman.

Whether it be crushing home runs in the postseason or telling Madison Bumgarner to go fetch a ball out of the ocean, Muncy has given us a lot to cheer for. Over the past three seasons, Muncy has batted to the tune of a .244 batting average with 82 home runs and 204 RBIs. Thankfully the Dodgers will have entrenched in their lineup for the next couple of seasons.
