Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts took to the radio today to get some time back in baseball. Dave went onto the Dan Patrick show to discuss several things, including what he has done to fill his time.
Roberts also confirmed that the team has shut down Camelback Ranch, the Dodgers’ Spring Training facility. It was closed to reassess and to keep players and staff safe.
And I just learned we’re going to shut down our complex today for the next two weeks to kinda reassess and see where we’re at.
While the league announced that Spring Training facilities were allowed to remain open to players, the Dodgers felt it was safest to close down. Camelback Ranch is set to be shut down for coaches, players, and staff for at least two weeks. Prior to today, players could visit to stay in shape and rehab existing injuries.
Roberts also addressed the current schedule that the league is facing, and whether or not the Dodgers would be able to get all 162 games in.
Ideally, everyone wanted to get in that 162…or whatever that number. But as every day goes on, the more we learn, it’s seeming more unlikely. But I’m still holding out hope.
The Dodgers were supposed to be starting the Freeway Series with the Angels tonight. Their Opening Day was set to begin on March 26th as well, though the league initially pushed it back only two weeks. That has changed drastically since it was announced a week ago, and it seems likely that baseball would not get back until at least June.
